just a little blog
So my cable and internet went out again last night. I get home watch the end of last weeks Penn and Teller’s Bullshit! Then the Time Warner decides that I get only basic cable and no internet. Very not good. But of well we have internet and cable now. I guess it was punishment because I looked so cute yesterday. I should have taken a picture but I was running late. So that didn’t happen.
My birthday is Friday and I am not excited about it. I will be 26 and that is ass. I don’t want to be 26.
I know weak blog today but my head still hurts and I don’t want to push it because I really don’t want to continue to miss work and continue to be broke.

bad_persephone and the misidentified relic
So here goes my blog:
Last week in anticipation of the much reviled (not by me) Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince I watched all the Harry Potter movies. I was reminded of something that’s always bothered me. Why change of the name of the first book to Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone when said stone is obviously the Philosopher’s Stone of alchemy lore. According to wikipedia (the most trustedist source in the world.) the change was made by Scholastic because they didn’t think that children would read a book with the word Philosopher in the title. Is it just me or do you smell bullshit? Children would have read that book if it was called Harry Potter and Dumbledore’s Crusty Old Nipple (well maybe not but I have a point not many children haven‘t read Harry Potter) it bothered me the whole way through the movie (which I saw before I read the book) and even more through the book. Once they described the properties of the stone in my head I was thinking “…philosophers stone?) but maybe I think too much. Or maybe not.
That’s all for now. I’m going to try and blog every day this week. Unless I have a migraine then fuck light, sound and thinking because it just causes pain.
Oh and I found out today that my Aunt had her baby on 7/6(…?). No one on my mom’s side of the family decided to call us to tell us. I know it’s a trans Atlantic call but still. Two weeks people! I swear if my Aunt hadn’t gone back in to the hospital with a horrible migraine that indicates her spinal pressure is off (she’s ok thought. She just has to go back to the hospital this week and they’ll fix her right up) we wouldn’t have know till they called to wish me Happy Birthday this Friday (if they even called for that). Anyway so I have a new cousin, her name is Nafshiya (it’s Sudanese don’t judge us!)

Harry Potter and the rabid fan base
Think back to the South Park episode where the kids were upset about how Spielberg and Lucas raped Indiana Jones.
Now replace Spielberg and Lucas with Kloves and Yates, and instead of Indiana Jones on the pinball machine getting penetrated, it's Harry. And tied up in the corner, waiting for their turn are Snape and Dumbledore.
Actually, Dumbledore isn't tied up, he's videotaping the ordeal, sipping a glass of chablis, alternating with puffs of a cigarette in a long ebony holder A bit much no? Anyway I enjoyed the movie. I didn’t love it. It certainly had it’s flaws. But all round an entertaining movie.

gumbasia

So he sent me the above comic strip and I laugh heartily. See we used to watch Gumby a lot as children (he loved that show he even had a bendy Gumby toy at one point). I even have a Gumby DVD I bough at Walmart for a dollar (that’s where I got the title to this blog from not an original thought, sorry)
Anyway when I was done laughing I text’d my brother about the amusement I found in the comic he had so thoughtfully sent me. I got to thinking of a great lost opportunity.
Well my idea was simple. See the block heads where always getting in to trouble, so they some how trick Gumby in to drinking beer. And since Gumby is so very naïve, he easily gets a taste for the “sauce” (yes I like to say old timey things sometimes). He soon turns in to the angry drunk as seen above. Pokey, Gumby’s mom, that blue thing with the blonde hair (no I am not looking up her name if you want to know you do the work. It really isn’t that important to me at 3 in the morning) and the block heads (cuz why leave them out, plus they need to learn a lesson too) hold an intervention and Gumby is sent to rehab, or maybe since it is a kids show just learns the error of his ways. And kids everywhere learn that beer = bad.
Also I now want to watch the “very special episode” of Saved by the Bell where Jessy gets addicted to diet pills (I think that’s what is was) and starts sing “I’m So Excited” and then ends up crying. Good times.
See what headache’s, migraines and sleep deprivation does to you.
*in case you didn't see it the origin of the picture is gunshowcomic.com (too lazy to make a link)
